R’reyonna Parker is a theatre professional, designer, and production leader whose work lives at the intersection of creativity, organization, and community. With over a decade of experience in theatre and live performance, she has built a career grounded in collaboration, mentorship, and a deep respect for the storytelling power of technical theatre.
Her journey began early, working backstage throughout middle school and high school, where she discovered a love for the unseen work that makes performance possible. From running light boards and shifting scenery to managing crews and supporting performers, R’reyonna quickly gravitated toward the technical side of theatre—finding fulfillment in building worlds that support actors and elevate stories.
R’reyonna earned her Bachelor of Graphic Design from Shawnee State University, a foundation that continues to shape her approach to scenic and lighting design. Her design work is driven by visual storytelling, mood, and intentional use of space, always balancing artistic vision with practical execution. She is particularly skilled at translating conceptual ideas into tangible environments through sketches, renderings, lighting plots, and painted scenery, often working within tight budgets and timelines without sacrificing impact.
Throughout her career, R’reyonna has served in a wide range of roles, including Production Manager, Assistant Theatre Director, Set Designer, Scenic Charge Artist, Lighting Designer, Theatre Technician, Auditorium Manager, and Stage Manager Intern. She has worked on productions such as Newsies, The Addams Family, The Wedding Singer, Radium Girls, White Christmas, and numerous educational and community theatre projects across Northeast Ohio. Her professional experience includes work with The Brecksville Theatre, Akron Civic Theatre’s All-City Musical, Theodore Roosevelt High School, Shawnee State University, and The Cincinnati Children’s Theatre.
A defining aspect of R’reyonna’s work is her dedication to education and mentorship. Many of her positions have involved guiding students through both the technical and collaborative aspects of theatre; teaching not only how to operate equipment or build sets, but how to communicate, problem-solve, and work as part of a team. Her background as a Residential Assistant and Orientation Leader further strengthened her ability to create inclusive, structured environments where people feel supported and empowered.
R’reyonna believes theatre is, at its core, a communal art form. What draws her most to the field is the way diverse skills and voices come together to create something larger than any single person. She values spaces that encourage curiosity, collaboration, and mutual respect, and she is especially drawn to organizations that prioritize both artistic excellence and community connection.
Whether she is designing a set, managing a production, mentoring students, or supporting a creative team behind the scenes, R’reyonna approaches every project with care, intention, and a commitment to telling meaningful stories. For her, theatre is not just about what happens on stage—it is about the people, processes, and shared moments that bring each production to life.
